Michael C. Lancer
At an early age, Michael C. Lancer was taught the value of sticking up for others, particularly for those in need. With that in mind, he became a lawyer. He has been a trial attorney for nearly 25 years.
Michael began his career as an officer in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps, trying courts-martial, and as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, dealing with all criminal matters on various U.S. Army installations. After five years on active duty, Michael moved to Buffalo with his family. He became an insurance defense attorney, serving 10 years as staff counsel to Travelers Insurance and five years as a partner in two defense firms.
For the past five years, it has been Michael’s privilege to represent working men and women who have been injured on the job, and otherwise. As a plaintiffs’ lawyer, Michael takes pride in zealously advocating for the rights of his clients. He focuses on cases involving injuries sustained in construction work, in motor vehicle accidents, and products liability.
Michael graduated cum laude from SUNY Stony Brook, and earned his law degree from Fordham University. Before becoming a lawyer, Michael worked for the United Nations, for Aer Lingus Irish Airlines, and for a television program (where he received an Emmy award as part of the production crew).
Michael has volunteered in a variety of veteran-related causes, including Buffalo’s ground-breaking Veterans Court. He served as a founding Co-chair of the New York Bar Association’s Veterans’ Legal Committee. Former Congresswoman Kathleen Hochul (now New York’s Lieutenant Governor) honored Michael by naming him as a special advisor for veterans’ affairs.
Michael Lancer is very pleased to be a member of the Brown Chiari team.
